This past weekend we competed at the Fall Classic at Ogilvie Raceway. There were 57 WISSOTA Modifieds on hand. The weekend consisted of a heat race where total passing points lined you up for the feature on Saturday. We started 6th in our heat and finished 2nd. Just a few laps short of winning. The car was very good and we had all the confidence that we were going to win on Saturday. This put us 7th in overall passing points so that is where we rolled off for the feature on Saturday. The track ended up rubbering up during the feature before ours, so the track had to be farmed prior to our race. This made the track very fast throughout the duration of the feature. About halfway through the race, we found ourselves in 6th. After a caution, we got bunched back up and the second-place runner spun when the race resumed without us completing a lap. For some reason, we lost a position without completing a lap so we had to restart 6th again. At this point in the race, the top side of the track was significantly faster than the bottom so we got freight trained on the start causing us to fall back to 8th. After trying to find a different line to make up ground, we ended up losing 2 more positions and had to settle for 10th. This was a very disappointing finish for us as we knew we had a good shot at winning this race.
This weekend we were supposed to go to Gondik Law Speedway or Mississippi Thunder Speedway but they have both canceled due to the weather forecast for the weekend. So now we just have 1 more race next weekend, weather permitting, at Ogilvie Raceway for the Topless Nationals.
