This past weekend Jeremy competed at The Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway with the USMTS, Thursday through Saturday.
On Thursday, there were 56 Modifieds on hand. Jeremy qualified 9th in his group on a slimy/muddy race track. He did not make the invert so he had to start there for his heat. In the heat, he was able to move up a couple of spots on a really narrow race track and finished 7th. This put him in the B main where he was battling for a transfer spot but ended up spinning with a few laps left trying to transfer. This ended his night.
Friday, there were 55 Modifieds. Qualifying went a lot better today as Jeremy qualified 3rd in his group which put him starting 2nd in the heat after the invert. He held 2nd for the entirety of the race until a late race caution where he had a bad restart and had to settle for 4th. This put him starting 4th in the B main where he finished 2nd which qualified him for the main event. Jeremy started 16th in the feature and he was moving through the field quickly. He was passing for 10th at about the halfway point where another driver drove over his right front and bent his tie rod which ended his night.
Saturday, there were 55 Modifieds. The driver made a mistake in qualifying and ended up 6th. Jeremy started 6th in the heat and finished 4th. Started and finished 3rd in the B main which transferred him to the feature. He started 20th in the feature and with all of the chaos running that far back in the field, it was very difficult to pass even though he was faster than a lot of the cars he was racing with. Jeremy had to settle for 19th.
Jeremy’s next race on his schedule is the Gopher 50 at Deer Creek Speedway July 7-9 where he will be the support class for the Lucas Oil Late Models and he will be racing for $1k on Thursday and Friday, and $5k on Saturday. Between now and then, he plans on going through the car with a fine tooth comb to make sure everything is how it should be and he may hit a weekly show if time allows.
