This past weekend we competed at the Northern Nationals at Gondik Law Speedway. On Friday there were 32 modifieds on hand. We started 6th in our heat and finished third. This put us 8th in overall passing points so that is where we started the feature. In the first half of the race we worked our way up to 5th before a caution came out. After the caution, the car had gone away and we fell back to 13th by the end of the race. We just slightly missed the set up where the car just got way too tight the last half of the race.
On Saturday there were 26 modifieds in attendance. We started 6th in our heat and once again finished 3rd. This put us 6th in overall passing points. In the feature, we worked our way to 4th and were passing for 2nd when a caution came out. After the caution, we stayed in 4th but with about 10 laps to go, the car went away again. We fell back to 6th and were side by side for 5th on the last lap and the other guy ran over our front end, causing us to spin. We were a DNF for the race. After the feature, we noticed the right rear tire was completely shot, which is a rare thing for us so it had to be a bad tire…
Once again, this weekend we showed some speed but just did not have the luck on our side. It’s been the same story pretty much all year. Hopefully, the luck changes soon.
This weekend we will be at the King of the Dirt at I-94 Sure Step Speedway. Hopefully, our luck changes so that we can get the 4-peat for this race.
