This past weekend Jeremy competed with the USMTS series at Deer Creek Speedway for the Fall Jamboree. On Friday there were 63 modifieds. He did not start the weekend out well as his transponder did not work in qualifying so he did not get a chance to time in. This put him in the back of his heat instead of the front where he should have been. Jeremy started 6th in his heat and finished 5th on a 1 lane race track. This put him in a B main where he started 7th and finished 8th which failed him to qualify for the main event.
On Friday there were 63 modifieds and it started out very similar to Thursday. When he was on his first lap of qualifying, he lost power and he was once again unable to get a lap in. Jeremy ended up losing power because his ignition ground bolt fell out, which he has never seen before. This put him starting 11th in his heat and he finished 8th. This put Jeremy in a B main once again, where he started 10th and finished 6th, missing the transfer spot by 2. He once again had the speed but just needed more time.
Saturday was the finale and there was 63 modifieds. Jeremy finally made it through qualifying without any issues and qualified 3rd in his group out of 11. This put him in the invert and he got to start 2nd in his heat. In the heat, he had a great battle for the lead and was able to take advantage of his starting spot and get the win. With this result, he made it in the redraw where he pulled the 6 so he started 3rd row outside because this race started 3-wide. At the start of the race, the track was not ready to be raced on and Jeremy hit slime in turn one and fell back to 14th in one lap. Between a couple of cautions and one long green flag run, he battled back and forth from 12th to 18th but had to settle with a 17th place finish after his car’s handling went away the last half of the 50 lap event.
Once again, it was a weekend where he had good speed but had a lot of bad luck. With not being able to qualify both Thursday and Friday, he had to push a rock up hill which is never easy with this caliber of cars.
Jeremy’s next event is this weekend at Mississippi Thunder Speedway on Friday and Saturday for their Great Pumpkin Races.
