This past weekend, we started out racing at Gondik Law Speedway for their doubleheader on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday there were 16 modifieds on hand. We started 3rd in our heat and finished 2nd and then started 5th in the feature and finished 10th. The car was still not right and we were trying all that we could to keep up, but we spun out and had to go to the back but were able to work our way back to 10th. After the feature, we noticed that the left front brake rotor was way hotter than the right front. We ended up replacing the calipers and it seemed to fix the problem.
On Friday, there were 21 modifieds. We started 6th in the heat and finished 4th. The car was much better but we wanted to make a few more changes especially since we were starting 11th in the feature. The problem was when we went out on the track, our driveshaft fell out. So we were unable to race the feature.
On Saturday we made our debut at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, WI. There were 32 modifieds on hand. We fixed our problems with the drive shaft so that we could still try our changes from Friday night. We started 3rd in our heat and finished 2nd. The leader was a straightaway away from us and we were able to run him down but ran out of time to pass. The car was really good for the first time this year which made us very excited about the feature where we rolled off in 9th. As we pulled onto the track, Mother Nature had a different plan and decided to stop the races with some rain. So we will have a makeup feature sometime in the future.
This weekend we plan to attend The Masters at Cedar Lake Speedway as spectators. The following week’s plans are up in the air at the moment but it sounds like Ogilvie Raceway will be opening on that Saturday, the 20th. It’s nice to see Minnesota tracks are starting to open up.
